How is this course structured?

We have a range of IELTS preparation courses to cater for your needs:

  • General or Academic IELTS courses: covers all 4 modules of the exam
  • Academic IELTS Reading and Writing short courses: covers the reading and writing modules of the exam
  • Academic / General IELTS Listening and Speaking short courses: covers the listening and speaking modules of the exam.

You’ll need to take a placement test to determine which of these courses is right for you. These tests take place in our teaching centres in Agouza, Heliopolis and Alexandria and you can book your placement test online here.

How will I be assessed?

This course is all about preparing you for your exam. Please note that  once you have completed the course you won’t actually receive a grade from us. What you will receive, however, is personalised feedback, advice on your progress and the steps you need to take to help you get the result you need.

You will need to buy a textbook in time for your first lesson. They’re available at the British Council bookshops in Agouza and Heliopolis. If you tell the clerk which course you are taking, they’ll know which book to give you.

Bookshop opening times

  •  Agouza is open Sunday to Thursday, 10.00–14.30 and 16.00–20.30. For the first two weeks of term this bookshop extends its opening hours to include the following times:

Friday 09.00–14.00 and 15.00–18.00 
Saturday 09.00–14.30 and 16.00–20.00.

  •  Heliopolis is open Saturday to Thursday, 09.00–19.00. For the first two weeks of term it will also open at these times on Friday.

Refunds are only available if the course is cancelled by the British Council or if you can prove that you are unable to complete the course due to serious illness, a loss or bereavement, or another personal trauma.

If a refund is offered, you will be issued with a course credit. This credit must be used within six months. Read more about our refund policy.

When are classes held?

When you register for your course you will be told which days and times are available and when the next course will start. 

Where are classes held?

Courses are available at Agouza, Heliopolis, CityStars and Alexandria. Visit our teaching centres page for more information about these locations. 

How much does the course cost?

20 hours : EGP 2,140 (2 sessions per week)

20 hours : EGP 2,420 (4 sessions per week)

25 hours : EGP 2,990
