We bring UK artists to Egypt to perform at major festivals and collaborate with their local counterparts to share knowledge and experiences. In recent years UK dance companies StopGap and Candoco have performed and delivered choreography workshops at the Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival (D-CAF), and at the Hakawy International Arts Festival for Children young audiences have enjoyed the Unicorn Theatre’s The Secret Life of Suitcases and Bamboozle’s powerful work, Storm, for autistic children. Major British films, such as Cold War, The Death of Stalin and Loving Vincent, regularly screen to great acclaim at the Panorama of European Film.
Sharing arts between Egypt and the UK

Watch the founder of DCAF talk about his experience with the British Council.
We also support UK festivals which showcase work from the Middle East, such as the Shubbak Festival and the Liverpool Arab Arts Festival. We are especially proud to have supported the first-ever Arab Arts Focus presented at the Edinburgh Fringe and Egypt’s award-winning presence at the London Design Biennale 2018.
