Sherwet Ahmed

Sherwet Ahmed

Society Programmes Manager, British Council Egypt

Sherwet is a development practitioner with more than 15 years experience in Egypt and the MENA region. She worked in various local and international organisations such as Ashoka Arab World, Centre for Egyptian Women Legal Assistance (CEWLA), the American University in Cairo (AUC), and the Association for the Development and Enhancement of Women (ADEW). Her focus covers a variety of sectors such as gender, community psychology and civil society.

 

Yomna Sharara

Yomna is an experienced teacher, academic manager, and teacher trainer who has been working with the British Council since 2015. Yomna is a CELTA ACT, DELTA local tutor, and a Trinity TYLEC tutor; she has extensive experience working with teachers on their professional development and designing leading teacher training programs.

2015 - Dina Mohammad Elmaghraby

Dina is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University and holds an MA degree in the field of immunology. Currently, Diana is studying for her MD and is an Associate Researcher at the National Research Centre. She worked as a Teaching Assistant at Misr International University for two years and during that time she was awarded the Best Teaching Assistant, twice! She is a mother of two and loves reading, travelling, solving crosswords and cooking.

 

2016 - Dina Ayman

Dina is a 4th year student of Biotechnology at Cairo University. She feels blessed to work as a demonstrator in the biotechnology programme. She is a member of research teams working on "Water treatment using chitosan nanoparticles", "Cytotoxic effect of new compounds on human tumor cell lines as monolayer and 3D mode" , and "Nutritional Genomics" projects. Dina is a Science Director at Computeck International Company anda trainer at The Arabic Society of Stem Cells and Molecular Biology. 

5Netfahm International Days

Volunteers are organising international days to raise awareness among young people about community issues.  They initiated International Volunteer day with the participation of 13 NGOs in Minya, followed by the International Day for People with Special Needs and the Minya Book Fair.  Following this success, a team of 20 active citizens, decided to promote themselves as event planners and organisers to their network, ensuring sustainability for their initiative.

 

Dina Abdel-Rahman

Dina obtained her bachelor degree from the Faculty of Art Education. Although she was a successful artist and hosted several art exhibitions, she eventually became a journalist and began writing political articles for several newspapers. Dina hosted the morning TV show SABAH DREAM on Dream TV. After that, she presented TV show AL YOUM on El Tahrir Channel and later moved to CBC where she presents TV show ZAYY EL SHAMS.

Dr Hemmat Allam

Hemmat Allam, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, she is now an Executive member of the International Relations Office, NRC.  Allam is a member of the International Association of the Study of Pain (IASP), The Egyptian Medical Pain Society and the Egyptian Society of Anaesthesiologists. She is an editor of several scientific publications in national and international journals. She has been awarded the IASP Pain Education Grant for Developing Countries for the year 2013 

Mahmoud Hafez

Entrepreneurial Award

Prof Mahmoud established “SurgiNovi” to commercially exploit the novel techniques that came out of his PhD project at Leeds University. This innovation is called patient specific templates (PST) for total knee replacement. He applied PST on 300 cases including 45 for a charity. He became a winner in Cairo Innovates 2015 by ASRT, Egypt. Prof Mahmoud is currently developing SurgiNovi to provide services for the majority of complex bone and joint procedures.

 

Mohamed Nader Alsayed Ibrahim

Durham University

Mohamed Nader’s devotion for SME’s finance began when he established his own SME advisory company in 2006. He discovered that banks are reluctant to finance SMEs. Since 2013 Mohamed has followed his dream to create a financial institution for SMEs. After many challenges, in 2017, he acquired a leasing company and restructured it to be an SME-only company.

During his UK studies, Nader also learned how banks in the UK serve SME.

 

Mona Hassanein

Mona Hassanein is a teacher trainer and academic manager who has a rich experience in the field of teaching adults and young learners. Mona has designed and delivered a variety of successful training courses and workshops for teachers working in different contexts in the Middle East region. In addition, she has mentored teachers and teacher trainers on several professional development programmes like the TYLEC, the British Council’s Teacher Support Programme and Teaching for Success.
